20 Losses Again: UNO Falls to SLU

Tyson Jackson
For the second consecutive season, the Privateers have lost 20 games, hitting that mark once again with a 77-67 loss in Hammond to Southeastern Louisiana.

New Orleans started strong, opening a 16-6 lead before falling apart. The Lions outscored the Bucs 37-9 for the remainder of the half, and while the Privateers (8-20, 3-12) fought back in the second frame, it wasn't enough to climb out of such a deep hole.

Jordan Johnson led the way with 22 points, though he shot just 6-for-19. Tyson Jackson had a strong effort, notching 17 points and 8 rebounds.

UNO has a week off before traveling to San Antonio next Saturday to face Incarnate Word.

Privateers Falter Late, Lose at Commerce

Junior G Carlos Hart
The Privateers snapped a six-game losing streak on Monday night, but could not start a winning streak at Texas A&M-Commerce, falling 89-83 on Saturday.

New Orleans drops to 3-8 in Southland play and 8-16 overall after being unable to close out the Lions late.  UNO led 73-72 at the last media timeout but were outscored 17-10 down the stretch.  Commerce shot 51% from the field and an incredible 61% from three-point range.

The loss wasted a career-best effort from Carlos Hart, who contributed a team-leading 21 points and 8 rebounds.  Jordan Johnson's shot was off, but he still mustered 18 points, and freshman Jah Short added 13.

The Privateers will continue their road swing on Monday night, where they will take on a Northwestern State team that defeated them 92-67 at Lakefront Arena earlier this year.
